    Apertus is an open source large language model (LLM) developed by the Swiss AI Initiative, which brings together EPFL, ETH Zurich and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), with Swisscom as strategic partner. Available in 8 and 70 billion parameter versions and trained on more than 1000 languages, it stands out for its full transparency: training data, code, weights and methodology are documented and reproducible. Version 1.5, released in July 2026, adds multimodal inputs.
